G1 phase
The G1 phase, or Gap 1 phase, is the first stage of the cell cycle that occurs after a cell divides. During this phase, the cell grows in size, synthesizes proteins, and produces organelles. It prepares for DNA replication, ensuring that the cell has the necessary resources to proceed to the next phase.
Cells in the G1 phase also assess their environment and internal conditions. If conditions are favorable, the cell will continue to the S phase for DNA synthesis. If not, it may enter a resting state known as G0 phase, where it can remain inactive for an extended period.
