G. D. Birla
G. D. Birla, or Ghanshyam Das Birla, was a prominent Indian industrialist and a key figure in the Indian independence movement. Born on April 10, 1894, he founded the Birla Group, which became one of India's largest conglomerates, involved in various sectors such as textiles, cement, and aluminum.
He was also known for his philanthropic efforts, establishing several educational institutions and hospitals. G. D. Birla played a significant role in supporting leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and contributed to the economic development of India during the early 20th century. He passed away on July 11, 1983.
