Fukushima Daiini
Fukushima Daiini is a nuclear power plant located in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. It consists of four reactors and was commissioned in the 1980s. The plant is situated about 10 kilometers south of the more well-known Fukushima Daiichi plant, which experienced a major nuclear disaster in March 2011 due to a massive earthquake and tsunami.
Unlike its neighbor, Fukushima Daiini remained largely unaffected during the 2011 disaster. The plant's safety systems functioned as intended, and it was successfully shut down. Since then, efforts have focused on decommissioning the facility, ensuring safety, and managing the aftermath of the events that impacted the region.
