Fukushima City is the capital of Fukushima Prefecture in Japan, located in the Tōhoku region. It is known for its beautiful natural scenery, including mountains and rivers, and has a population of around 290,000 residents. The city serves as a cultural and economic center for the region, offering various educational institutions and local industries.
In March 2011, Fukushima City was affected by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, which occurred after a massive earthquake and tsunami. While the city itself was not directly impacted by the nuclear plant's meltdown, it faced challenges related to evacuation and recovery efforts in the surrounding areas.
