Fujita Scale
The Fujita Scale is a system used to classify the intensity of tornadoes based on the damage they cause. Developed by Dr. Tetsuya Fujita in 1971, it ranges from F0 to F5, with F0 representing light damage and F5 indicating incredible damage. The scale assesses factors such as wind speed and the destruction of buildings and vegetation.
In 2007, the Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF Scale) was introduced to provide a more accurate assessment of tornado damage. The EF Scale also ranges from EF0 to EF5, but it includes updated criteria for evaluating damage to structures. This helps meteorologists and researchers better understand tornado impacts and improve safety measures.
