Frozen Precipitation
Frozen precipitation refers to any form of moisture that falls from the atmosphere in a solid state. This includes types like snow, sleet, and hail. These forms occur when temperatures are low enough for water droplets to freeze before reaching the ground.
Snow forms when water vapor in the air crystallizes into ice crystals, creating fluffy flakes. Sleet occurs when raindrops freeze into small ice pellets during their descent. Hail is formed in thunderstorms when updrafts carry water droplets upward, where they freeze and accumulate layers of ice before falling to the ground.
