Frostbite Prevention
Frostbite occurs when skin and underlying tissues freeze due to extreme cold. To prevent frostbite, it is essential to dress in layers, using moisture-wicking materials as a base layer and insulating fabrics like wool or fleece on top. Cover all exposed skin, especially ears, nose, and fingers, as these areas are most vulnerable.
Staying dry is crucial, as wet clothing can increase the risk of frostbite. Limit time spent in extremely cold conditions, and take breaks in warm areas. If you notice symptoms like numbness or discoloration, seek warmth immediately to avoid serious injury.
