Potoos
Potoos are nocturnal birds found primarily in Central and South America. They belong to the family Nyctibiidae and are known for their camouflaged plumage, which helps them blend into tree bark during the day. Potoos have large eyes and a wide mouth, allowing them to catch insects in flight at night.
These birds are unique in their behavior, often remaining motionless for long periods. They are most active during dusk and dawn, using their excellent hearing to locate prey. Potoos are also known for their distinctive calls, which can be heard echoing through the forests where they reside.
