Frente Amplio
Frente Amplio is a left-wing political coalition in Uruguay, formed in 1971. It brings together various political parties, social movements, and organizations that advocate for progressive policies, social justice, and human rights. The coalition aims to represent a broad spectrum of leftist ideologies, including socialism, communism, and social democracy.
In the 2004 elections, Frente Amplio achieved significant success, leading to the presidency of Tabaré Vázquez. This marked a shift in Uruguayan politics, as the coalition focused on reducing poverty, improving education, and expanding healthcare. Since then, it has remained a prominent force in the country's political landscape.
