Freeloading
Freeloading refers to the act of taking advantage of others' resources or efforts without contributing anything in return. This behavior can occur in various contexts, such as social situations, workplaces, or online communities. Freeloaders often rely on the generosity of others, which can lead to feelings of resentment among those who are contributing.
In economic terms, freeloading can also describe individuals or groups that benefit from a public good without paying for it. For example, public parks or clean air are resources that everyone can enjoy, but some may choose not to support their maintenance, relying on others to bear the costs.
