Frederick William MacMonnies
Frederick William MacMonnies (1863-1937) was an American sculptor known for his work in both classical and modern styles. He gained prominence for his large-scale public monuments and statues, including the famous Nathan Hale statue in New York City. MacMonnies was also recognized for his contributions to the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, where he showcased his talent.
In addition to his public works, MacMonnies created numerous smaller sculptures and busts, often depicting historical figures and allegorical themes. His artistic education included studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was influenced by European artistic traditions.
