Freddie Stowers
Freddie Stowers was an African American soldier who served in the United States Army during World War I. He was born on January 12, 1896, in South Carolina and enlisted in the Army in 1917. Stowers was a member of the 369th Infantry Regiment, also known as the "Harlem Hellfighters," and fought bravely in France.
Stowers is best known for his heroic actions during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918, where he displayed exceptional courage. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1991, making him the first African American soldier to receive this honor for his service in World War I.
