Fred Wilpon
Fred Wilpon is an American businessman and former owner of the New York Mets, a Major League Baseball team. He was born on November 22, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York. Wilpon co-founded the Sterling Equities real estate company and became involved in sports management, eventually acquiring a controlling interest in the Mets in 2002.
Under Wilpon's ownership, the Mets experienced both successes and challenges, including a trip to the World Series in 2015. In 2020, he sold a significant portion of the team to billionaire Steve Cohen, marking a new era for the franchise.
