Francesco Baracca
Francesco Baracca was an Italian fighter pilot during World War I, known for his exceptional skills in aerial combat. Born on May 9, 1888, in Lugo, Italy, he became one of the most celebrated aviators of his time, credited with 34 confirmed aerial victories. Baracca flew for the Italian Air Force and was a member of the 91st Squadron, where he earned a reputation for bravery and tactical prowess.
Tragically, Baracca's life was cut short when he was killed in action on June 19, 1918. His legacy continues to inspire, and he is often remembered for the iconic prancing horse emblem he painted on his aircraft, which later became the symbol for the Ferrari car brand.
