François Couperin
François Couperin (1668-1733) was a prominent French composer and harpsichordist of the Baroque period. He is best known for his keyboard works, particularly his collections of ordres, which are suites of dances and character pieces. Couperin's music is characterized by its elegance, intricate ornamentation, and emotional depth.
In addition to his keyboard compositions, Couperin wrote chamber music and sacred works, contributing significantly to the development of French music. He was also a member of the Académie Royale de Musique and served as a court musician for King Louis XIV. His influence extended beyond his lifetime, impacting later composers such as J.S. Bach.
