Fraction Addition
Fraction addition involves combining two or more fractions to find a total. To add fractions with the same denominator, simply add the numerators and keep the denominator the same. For example, 1/4 + 2/4 equals 3/4.
When adding fractions with different denominators, first find a common denominator. This often involves finding the least common multiple of the denominators. Once the fractions have the same denominator, you can add them as before. For instance, to add 1/3 and 1/6, convert 1/3 to 2/6, then add: 2/6 + 1/6 equals 3/6, which simplifies to 1/2.
