Fr. Leo John Dehon
Fr. Leo John Dehon was a French priest born on March 14, 1843, in Saint-Quentin, France. He founded the Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians) in 1878, a religious congregation dedicated to promoting the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and serving the poor. His work emphasized education, social justice, and pastoral care.
Dehon was also known for his writings and commitment to social issues, particularly during the industrial revolution. He passed away on August 12, 1925, and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1992, recognizing his contributions to the Church and society.
