Fouquieria columnaris
Fouquieria columnaris, commonly known as the organ pipe cactus, is a unique plant native to the Sonoran Desert in North America. It is characterized by its tall, columnar stems that can reach heights of up to 20 feet. The plant typically has multiple upright branches that resemble the pipes of an organ, hence its name.
This cactus blooms with beautiful, tubular flowers that are usually white or yellow, attracting various pollinators, including bats and insects. Fouquieria columnaris is well-adapted to its arid environment, storing water in its thick stems and thriving in sandy soils.
