Fort Peck Dam
The Fort Peck Dam is a large earthen dam located on the Missouri River in northeastern Montana. Completed in 1940, it was built as part of the New Deal programs to provide flood control, irrigation, and hydroelectric power. The dam creates the Fort Peck Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States.
The dam is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and plays a crucial role in water management for the region. It also supports recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and camping, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
