Fort Kearny
Fort Kearny was a military outpost established in 1848 in what is now Nebraska. It served as a supply station and a protective haven for travelers on the Oregon Trail and California Trail. The fort played a crucial role during the westward expansion of the United States, providing shelter and resources for pioneers.
The fort was named after General Stephen W. Kearny, a prominent figure in the Mexican-American War. Although it was abandoned in 1871, Fort Kearny remains an important historical site, reflecting the challenges and experiences of those who journeyed westward during the 19th century.
