Fokker Dr.I
The Fokker Dr.I is a German triplane fighter aircraft that became famous during World War I. Designed by Anton Fokker, it featured three wings stacked one above the other, which provided excellent maneuverability and climb rate. The aircraft was primarily used by the Luftstreitkräfte, the air service of the German Empire.
The Fokker Dr.I is best known for its association with the legendary pilot Manfred von Richthofen, also known as the "Red Baron." With its distinctive red paint scheme, the aircraft became a symbol of aerial combat during the war. Despite its advantages, the Dr.I had some limitations, including stability issues at high speeds.
