Flinders Island kangaroo
The Flinders Island kangaroo is a unique subspecies of the eastern grey kangaroo, found exclusively on Flinders Island in Tasmania, Australia. It is characterized by its smaller size, with adults typically weighing between 30 to 50 kilograms. Their fur is generally a mix of grey and brown, providing excellent camouflage in their natural habitat of grasslands and forests.
These kangaroos are herbivorous, primarily feeding on grasses, leaves, and shrubs. They are social animals, often seen in small groups, and are most active during the early morning and late afternoon. The Flinders Island kangaroo plays a vital role in the ecosystem by helping to maintain plant growth and soil health.
