Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings (Politician)
Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings was a Ghanaian military officer and politician who played a significant role in the country's political landscape. He initially came to power in 1979 after leading a coup d'état against the government of General Fred Akuffo. Rawlings later became the head of state and led Ghana through a period of economic reform and stabilization.
In 1992, Rawlings transitioned from military rule to democratic governance, becoming the first president of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. He was elected twice, serving until 2001, and is remembered for his contributions to Ghana's political development and efforts to promote social justice and economic growth.
