Flagellation
Flagellation is the act of beating or whipping oneself or another person, often for religious or ritualistic purposes. This practice has been observed in various cultures throughout history, where it was sometimes seen as a form of penance or a way to seek spiritual purification.
In some religious traditions, such as certain sects of Christianity and Islam, flagellation has been used as a means to express devotion or to atone for sins. While it can be a voluntary act, it has also been associated with self-harm and can raise concerns regarding mental health and well-being.
