First Nations Policing Program
The First Nations Policing Program (FNPP) is a Canadian initiative designed to enhance policing services in Indigenous communities. It aims to provide culturally appropriate law enforcement that respects the unique needs and traditions of First Nations. The program supports the establishment of police services that are community-based and focused on building trust between law enforcement and Indigenous peoples.
Through the FNPP, funding is allocated to various First Nations to develop their own police forces or enhance existing services. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve public safety and address the historical challenges faced by Indigenous communities in relation to policing and justice.
