First Council of Toledo
The First Council of Toledo took place in 400 AD in Toledo, Spain. It was a significant gathering of bishops from the Iberian Peninsula, primarily aimed at addressing issues related to the growing influence of Arianism, a belief that denied the full divinity of Christ. The council sought to unify the Catholic Church in the region and reinforce orthodox Christian teachings.
During this council, the bishops established important canons and decrees to combat heretical views and promote the Nicene Creed. The decisions made at the First Council of Toledo helped to strengthen the position of the Catholic Church in Spain and laid the groundwork for future councils, such as the Second Council of Toledo.
