Firebrats
Firebrats are small, wingless insects belonging to the order Thysanura. They are closely related to silverfish and are typically found in warm, humid environments. Firebrats are known for their grayish-brown color and elongated bodies, which can grow up to half an inch long. They thrive in areas with high temperatures, often residing in places like attics, basements, and near heating systems.
These insects primarily feed on starchy materials, including paper, glue, and even some fabrics. Firebrats are nocturnal and tend to be more active at night. While they are not harmful to humans, their presence can indicate moisture issues in a building.
