Fire Towers
Fire towers are tall structures built to help detect wildfires in forests and remote areas. They are usually equipped with a lookout platform at the top, where a ranger or lookout can observe the surrounding landscape for signs of smoke or fire. These towers are often located on high ground to provide a better vantage point.
Typically made of wood or metal, fire towers can vary in height and design. Many were constructed in the early 20th century as part of efforts to manage and protect forests. Today, some fire towers, like those in the United States, are still in use, while others have been preserved as historical sites.
