Finnish Swedes
Finnish Swedes are a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland, primarily residing along the western and southern coasts. They represent about 5% of the Finnish population and have a distinct cultural identity that blends elements of both Swedish and Finnish traditions.
The community has its own schools, media, and organizations, promoting the Swedish language and culture. Many Finnish Swedes maintain strong ties to Sweden, and their history dates back to the time when Finland was part of the Swedish Empire.
