Filing Extension
A "Filing Extension" is a request made to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that allows taxpayers to extend the deadline for submitting their tax returns. Instead of the usual April 15 deadline, individuals can receive an additional six months to file their taxes, pushing the due date to October 15.
It's important to note that a filing extension does not extend the time to pay any taxes owed. Taxpayers must estimate their tax liability and pay any amount due by the original deadline to avoid penalties and interest.
