Fifth Disease
Fifth Disease, also known as erythema infectiosum, is a viral infection caused by the parvovirus B19. It primarily affects children and is characterized by a distinctive red rash on the cheeks, often referred to as "slapped cheek" appearance. The illness is usually mild and can also cause flu-like symptoms, such as fever and fatigue.
The disease spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Although it is most common in children, adults can also contract it. Fifth Disease is generally not serious, but it can pose risks for pregnant women and individuals with certain blood disorders.
