Ficedula is a genus of small passerine birds commonly known as flycatchers. These birds are primarily found in the Old World, particularly in Europe, Asia, and Africa. They are characterized by their insectivorous diet, vibrant plumage, and distinctive vocalizations.
Members of the Ficedula genus often inhabit forests, woodlands, and open areas where they can easily catch insects in flight. Some well-known species include the Ficedula hypoleuca, or the European Pied Flycatcher, and the Ficedula albicollis, known as the Collared Flycatcher.
