Fibular Nerve
The fibular nerve, also known as the peroneal nerve, is a branch of the sciatic nerve that runs down the leg. It is responsible for providing sensation to the skin on the outer part of the lower leg and the top of the foot. Additionally, it controls several muscles that help with foot movement, including dorsiflexion and eversion.
Injury to the fibular nerve can lead to conditions such as foot drop, where a person has difficulty lifting the front part of the foot. This can affect walking and balance. Treatment options may include physical therapy, bracing, or, in some cases, surgery to relieve pressure on the nerve.
