Fevzi Çakmak
Fevzi Çakmak was a prominent Turkish military officer and politician, born on March 12, 1876, in Istanbul. He played a significant role in the Turkish War of Independence and served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces from 1920 to 1944. His leadership was crucial in establishing the modern Turkish Republic.
After the war, Çakmak became a key figure in the new government, contributing to military reforms and national defense strategies. He was also involved in various political activities and served as a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Çakmak passed away on April 10, 1950.
