Ferritic Steel
Ferritic steel is a type of stainless steel that primarily contains iron and chromium, typically with a chromium content of 10.5% to 30%. This steel is known for its magnetic properties and good resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for various applications, including automotive parts and kitchen appliances.
Unlike austenitic stainless steels, ferritic steels do not contain significant amounts of nickel, which helps keep production costs lower. They are generally less ductile and have lower toughness at elevated temperatures, but their strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking make them valuable in specific environments, such as marine applications and industrial equipment.
