Femoral Arteries
The femoral arteries are major blood vessels located in the thigh. They are responsible for supplying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the lower limbs. Each leg has its own femoral artery, which branches off from the external iliac artery.
As the femoral artery travels down the thigh, it gives rise to several smaller branches that supply blood to the surrounding muscles and tissues. It eventually becomes the popliteal artery behind the knee, continuing the pathway of blood flow to the lower leg and foot.
