Federal Housing Finance Agency
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is an independent agency of the United States government. Established in 2008, its primary role is to oversee and regulate the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The FHFA aims to ensure the stability and liquidity of the housing finance system.
In addition to regulating GSEs, the FHFA also manages the Federal Home Loan Bank system. The agency works to promote access to affordable housing and protect the interests of taxpayers while ensuring that the housing finance market operates efficiently and effectively.
