February 1974 United Kingdom General Election
The February 1974 United Kingdom General Election was held on February 28, 1974. It was called to resolve a deadlock in Parliament following the October 1974 General Election, where no party gained a clear majority. The election saw the Labour Party, led by Harold Wilson, competing against the Conservative Party, led by Edward Heath.
In this election, the Labour Party won 301 seats, while the Conservative Party secured 297 seats. Despite Labour's victory, they did not achieve an outright majority, leading to a hung parliament. This situation prompted further political negotiations and ultimately resulted in another election later that year.
