Fatou Bensouda
Fatou Bensouda is a Gambian lawyer and former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). She served in this role from 2012 to 2021, becoming the first woman and the first African to hold the position. Bensouda has a strong background in international law and human rights, having worked with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda before joining the ICC.
Throughout her career, Bensouda has focused on prosecuting serious crimes, including war crimes and crimes against humanity. She has been recognized for her efforts to promote justice and accountability on a global scale, contributing to the fight against impunity for serious violations of international law.
