Fainting Goat
The Fainting Goat, also known as the Myotonic Goat, is a domestic breed known for its unique reaction to sudden stimuli. When startled, these goats experience a temporary condition called myotonia, which causes their muscles to stiffen and can lead to them falling over. This reaction typically lasts for about 10 seconds, after which they recover and stand up.
Originating in the United States in the early 19th century, Fainting Goats were initially bred for their meat. They are medium-sized animals with a calm temperament, making them popular as pets and for small farms. Their distinctive fainting behavior has made them a subject of curiosity and amusement.
