Fading (Diminishing)
Fading, or diminishing, refers to the gradual reduction in intensity or visibility of an object, sound, or light over time. This phenomenon can occur in various contexts, such as the fading of colors in a painting due to exposure to sunlight or the diminishing sound of a distant train.
In psychology, fading is often used in behavior modification techniques, where a stimulus is gradually removed to help individuals learn new behaviors. For example, a teacher might use fading to reduce prompts when teaching a student to complete a task independently, allowing the student to gain confidence and skill over time.
