Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen
Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen was a Russian explorer born on September 20, 1778. He is best known for his role as the commander of the first Russian expedition to Antarctica, which took place from 1819 to 1821. His journey contributed significantly to the mapping of the Antarctic region and the discovery of new islands.
