Extensor Carpi Radialis
The Extensor Carpi Radialis is a muscle located in the forearm. It plays a crucial role in extending and abducting the wrist, allowing for movements such as lifting the hand upward and moving it away from the body. This muscle is essential for various daily activities, including writing and gripping objects.
There are two parts to the Extensor Carpi Radialis: the Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus and the Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis. Both originate from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and insert into the base of the second and third metacarpal bones, respectively. Proper functioning of this muscle is important for overall wrist stability and mobility.
