Eustachian Tube
The Eustachian Tube is a small passage that connects the middle ear to the back of the throat. Its primary function is to equalize air pressure on both sides of the eardrum, which is essential for proper hearing. When you swallow or yawn, the tube opens to allow air in, helping to maintain balance in ear pressure.
This tube can sometimes become blocked due to allergies, colds, or sinus infections, leading to discomfort or hearing issues. If the blockage persists, it may result in conditions like otitis media, an infection of the middle ear, which can cause pain and affect hearing.
