European Water Shrew
The European Water Shrew is a small mammal found in wetland habitats across Europe and parts of Asia. It has a streamlined body, webbed feet, and a long snout, which help it swim efficiently in search of food. This species primarily feeds on aquatic invertebrates, small fish, and amphibians.
Measuring about 10 to 12 inches in length, including its tail, the European Water Shrew is one of the largest shrew species. It is known for its dense, waterproof fur that keeps it warm and dry while hunting in cold water. This shrew is also an excellent swimmer, capable of diving to catch prey.
