European Storm-petrel
The European Storm-petrel is a small seabird belonging to the family Hydrobatidae. It has a wingspan of about 40-45 cm and is characterized by its dark plumage and white belly. These birds are known for their unique flight style, often skimming over the water's surface while searching for food, primarily small fish and zooplankton.
Breeding occurs on remote islands, where they nest in burrows. The European Storm-petrel is widely distributed across the North Atlantic, particularly in areas like the British Isles and Mediterranean Sea. They are migratory, spending winters in warmer waters off the coast of West Africa.
