European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standardized system used across Europe to facilitate the transfer of academic credits between institutions. It allows students to have their learning achievements recognized when they move from one university to another, promoting mobility and flexibility in higher education. Each academic year typically corresponds to 60 ECTS credits, with one credit representing around 25 to 30 hours of work.
ECTS helps students plan their studies and understand the workload required for different courses. It also supports the transparency of qualifications, making it easier for employers to assess the skills and knowledge of graduates from various countries. This system is part of the broader efforts to create a more integrated European Higher Education Area.
