Eudyptula
Eudyptula is a genus of small penguins, commonly known as little penguins or fairy penguins. They are native to the southern coasts of Australia and New Zealand. These birds are characterized by their blue feathers and white bellies, standing about 30 to 40 centimeters tall.
Little penguins primarily feed on small fish and squid, hunting in the ocean. They are known for their unique vocalizations and social behavior, often nesting in burrows or under vegetation. Their populations are monitored due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species, making conservation efforts important for their survival.
