Etanercept
Etanercept is a medication used to treat autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It works by blocking a protein called tumor necrosis factor (TNF), which plays a key role in inflammation and immune responses. By inhibiting TNF, Etanercept helps reduce swelling, pain, and other symptoms associated with these conditions.
Etanercept is administered through an injection, typically given once or twice a week, depending on the specific condition being treated. Patients may experience side effects, including injection site reactions, increased risk of infections, and headaches. Regular monitoring by a healthcare provider is essential to ensure safety and effectiveness during treatment.
