Eta Carinae
Eta Carinae is a massive star system located in the Carina constellation, about 7,500 light-years from Earth. It is one of the most luminous stars known, with a brightness estimated to be over five million times that of the Sun. The system consists of at least two stars, with the primary star being a blue supergiant that is in a highly unstable phase of its life cycle.
The star system is famous for its dramatic outbursts, which have caused it to vary in brightness over time. These eruptions are thought to be related to the star's rapid evolution and mass loss. Eta Carinae is also surrounded by a nebula, known as the Homunculus Nebula, which was formed from material ejected during these outbursts.
